WINTER 2024 CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
Each class session includes step-by-step instruction, art history inspiration, technique demonstrations, instructor feedback on individual work and plenty of time for student questions. Advanced classes are available in smaller groups. Please complete the contact form below for more information.
BOTANICAL DRAWING & WATERCOLOR PAINTING
8 Sessions: Fridays, January 5th - March 1st, 1 - 4 pm, no class 1/23
New Art Center, 61 Washington Park location
Develop your skills in drawing and watercolor painting botanical subjects in this relaxing practice of connecting with nature. Learn blending, layering colors, combining graphite with colored pencils, underpainting with colored pencils and other techniques with step-by-step instructions. Create several finished drawings and paintings with lots of instructor feedback. Subjects include flowers, fruits, leaves, peppers, and more. Some observational drawing experience is preferred. MINDFUL DRAWING
6 Sessions: Thursdays, February 1st - March 14th, 10 am - 12 pm,
no class 2/22
New Art Center Trio Studio, 245 Walnut Street, Newton
Mindful drawing is an approach to drawing that is contemplative, nurturing and restorative for many artists. Each session of this six week course includes a variety of observational and imaginative drawing exercises using graphite pencil, pen and charcoal. Beginners are welcome.

ART JOURNALING WITH COLLAGE AND MIXED MEDIA
6 Sessions: Thursdays, February 1st - March 14th, 12:30 - 2:30 pm, no class 2/22
New Art Center Trio Studio, 245 Walnut Street, Newton
Join Corry for a playful and fun exploration of color, composition and creativity using collage and mixed media. Use a variety of materials to create an art journal that fosters and nurtures your creative artistic practice. Corry will teach the fundamentals of organizing a visual story with collage and mixed media. Students may choose from a variety of projects including applying media to existing sketchbooks, creating collaged Japanese scrolls or folding screens, working from found book materials and more. Beginning and experienced artists are welcome.
