Japanese Ink Painting Online
Corry's Zoom Studio
Learn painting with Sumi ink and brushes to create expressive and meditative paintings of nature. Create Sumi ink on a stone with an ink stick and water, use the brush in creative ways, explore the mysteries of ink-to-water ratios, and see what wonderful effects in values and shapes can be created with this flowing form of art. Classical inspirations from the beautiful master paintings of the Japanese Edo Period will be explored.

Botanical Art in Colored Pencils

Colored pencil drawings can evoke the depth and beauty of watercolor paintings,
and are generally created with much more control and meditative ease with detailed botanical subjects. Step-by-step instructions will foster meditative connections to nature. Learn how to create accurate drawings from direct observation of leaves, fruits, flowers and more.

Landscape Painting in Watercolor
In person at the Arlington Center for the Arts
Arlington, MA
Paint a variety of landscapes in watercolor by practicing multiple techniques, including flat wash, dry brush, mixing colors on both the palette and the paper, wet-into-wet, creating effective edges and others. By the end of the first session, students will be comfortable with creating value studies and using these techniques to create landscape paintings. Photos will be provided. Students are also invited to bring photos of their favorite landscapes or travel photos as references.

Mindful Drawing

Learning how to draw mindfully is an approach to drawing that is contemplative, nurturing and restorative for many artists. Each session of this six week course includes a variety of both observational and imaginative drawing exercises using graphite pencil, pen and charcoal. Learn techniques to ‘draw what you see’ in contour, values and textures. Study the art of Van Gogh, GEGO, Ruth Asawa and more for inspiration. Topics include drawing from life, botanical subjects, landscapes, mandalas, and more.
