I offer six to ten week online classes in nurturing, yet challenging, small group sessions. I also offer in person classes, workshops and private lessons.


Each class session includes step-by-step instruction, art history inspiration, technique demonstrations, instructor feedback on individual work and lots of time for student questions.

EASY LANDSCAPE DRAWING

5/2/2023-6/6/2023, 4 pm - 6 pm


Drawing landscapes is a fun way to explore values and shapes. Students use pen, charcoal and graphite to understand the importance of the foundation of creating excellent values and shapes in any drawing or painting. Using many different landscape scenes, students learn to create organized, interesting and detailed drawings.

FUNDAMENTALS OF BOTANICAL DRAWING IN GRAPHITE

Learn how to draw botanical subjects in graphite from direct observation. Step-by-step instructions will foster meditative connections to nature while learning to create graceful and accurate drawings. Develop control of line, texture, shading and composition in a nurturing studio environment. Botanical subjects include leaves, flowers, and fruits.


FUNDAMENTALS OF BOTANICAL DRAWING IN COLORED PENCIL

Learn how to draw botanical subjects with colored pencils in this relaxing practice of connecting with the colors of nature. Learn blending, layering colors, creating depth and form, how to ‘underpaint’ with colored pencils and other techniques with step-by-step instructions. 


JAPANESE INK AND WATERCOLOR PAINTING

6/13/2023 - 7/25/2023, 4 pm - 6 pm

Students will learn the basic techniques of painting with Sumi ink and watercolors to create expressive and meditative paintings of nature. Topics include classical landscapes, bamboo, orchids, chrysanthemums, cherry trees and more. Focus on the inspirations from the beautiful master paintings of the Edo Period in Japanese Art. Beginners welcome.
